HECTIC APPLAUSE OF WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION “University showers extreme credit over women”

The world international women’s day celebration, which eventually celebrated on march 8 at university of madras centenary auditorium with most respected chief guest of the day play back singer of the era Mrs. P.Susheela and other distinguished women achievers from different agenda of government sectors namely Mrs.Deepa Iyer, Mrs.k.k Liji, Mrs. Jothika Kamalabai, and Mrs. Meenachi Vijayakumar proceeding a function with their memorable presence. The function began with a welcome address by the registrar and examiner of the university Dr. Leo Alexander and then continued with a presidential address by most respected Dr. Thiruvasagam the vice chancellor of the university. he began his talk with an efficient proud stating the 155 year old university of madras formally being a mother university of all in the country enjoys celebrating the world international women's day as one of the noted celebration in its history marking a remarkable impression on behalf of various distinguished guests on the dais, the veteran singer P.Susheela and various sectors of women achievers in the state of Tamilnadu, which included bus driver, fire service, police, commenter in the army and navy chief in the mist of us. During his talk he mentioned that, it is even personal for him that he had a vision to celebrate the function more grandly than ever from the day began his carrier here in the university, and he is ultimately happy today that it has come out well by the presence of honorable veteran play back singer, who had sung songs in 10 languages in India and made a sweetest and youngest melody in everyone's heart. She started her carrier in AIR (All India Radio), which needed five singers to contact a program and finally she was one among the five to get selected. There after she worked as a monthly paid employee at AVM studios and slowly her melodious voice had been spread all over the hearts of Tamilnadu. The first film that she rented her voice in Tamil is "Perrathai". She is even remembered in all official meeting and gathering by her voice which is being sounded in Tamil anthem "neetarum kadaludutha" after his rhetoric introduction of the guest, he followed with a history of March 8. He pointed out Bread and Roses protest in New York.

He sated the women achievers like Sarojini Naidu, Kalpana Chawla, Indira Gandhi, Mother Theresa and Present chief minister of Tamilnadu Ms.J. Jayalalitha in the list. He continued again with his personal experience with Susheela’s songs, to point out, she had earned great honor of five national awards and again to honor the government of India felicitated her with Bathmapushan award. She began Susheela trust to provide free education and music class in the city and even helps poor in different forms of lending. Vice chancellor Thiruvasagam put out a chat of statistical study on women in India and international. He surprised the crowd at the end announcing from next year onwards Women’s department will be introduced and inaugurated in the history of university of madras. He mentioned that there are 4120 students in the university but 69% of them are girls. It shows that we encourage girl students to explore and change the world through their contribution. When Susheela began her talk, every crowd in auditorium clapped and made an exotic welcome. She began her talk with a song and thanked Tamil soil which played an important role in her carrier, making her one of the notable celebrity today, and then thanked vice chancellor for giving a chance to come to this historical university. She wished all those five girls from various governmental fields for making a big change in society. Later on, at the end there were cultural dance programs, which made audience to laugh and sound.
